White Butter Icing

for an 8" cake

2 Tablespoons (1/8 cup) margarine
1 cup icing sugar
1 Tablespoons boiling water
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

for a 9" cake

3 Tablespoons (1/4 cup) margarine
1 1/4 cup icing sugar
1 1/2 Tablespoons boiling water
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Mix margarine and icing sugar together. Add boiling water gradually, until mixture is of spreading consistency. Add vanilla.
